Az illegális és tömeges bevándorlás komoly kihívást jelent az Atlanti-óceán mindkét partján. 2022 szomorú rekordot hozott Európában: egy év alatt 64%-kal nőtt az illegális határátlépések száma, meghaladva a 330 000-et, ami 2016 óta a legmagasabb érték. Ugyanebben a pénzügyi évben az Egyesült Államok határőrsége 2 206 436 embert tartóztatott fel, akik illegálisan lépték át az USA déli határát.

A Migrációkutató Intézet által szervezett kerekasztal-beszélgetésen az Egyesült Államok, Franciaország és Magyarország szakértői többek között azt fogják elemezni, hogy milyen okok és motivációk fedezhetők fel az irreguláris migráció hátterében; miként változott a határvédelemért és rendfenntartásért felelős szervek szerepe az évek során; valamint, hogy a tömeges bevándorlás milyen hatást gyakorol az őket befogadó helyi közösségekre.

Illegal and mass immigration is a major challenge on both sides of the Atlantic. 2022 brought a sad record for Europe: in one year, the number of illegal border crossings increased by 64% to more than 330,000, the highest since 2016. In the same fiscal year, the US Border Patrol arrested 2 206 436 people who crossed the US southern border illegally.

In a roundtable discussion organised by the Migration Research Institute, experts from the United States, France and Hungary will analyse—among other things—the causes and motivations behind irregular and mass migration; how the role of border protection and law enforcement agencies has changed; and the impact of immigration on the local communities that receive them.
